Hey there,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a script that automates the process of building a proxy rig.  Basically, taking the whole process of selecting faces and extracting them to build a low res mesh that you parent to joints.  I would think that there must be something out there that somehow calculates, based off of closest joint, how to cut the nearby geometry?

Does anyone know if this is out there?  Thanks.

You can split by joint weighting, ofcourse it only makes sense if you actually bound the mesh first. And yes theres one script teht ive seen to do this.

ITs just not very handy in the end as youd still need to clean things up a wee bit anyway. Its not necceserily the best use fo resouces. Cant remeber the name tough. Its infinitely better to do just the isolation part yourself as you still end up doing a abit of manual work so oits better to isolat ethe step,

I see.  I agree, it probably wouldn't get you there 100%.  I'd love to take a look at the script though and see how it works?  You have any ideas where I might find it or what it would be called?  No luck finding something myself.

Paul Thuriot provides a similar script among some other usefull ones in his Hyperrealistic Rigging dvds, you should have a look.
