IK knee -- "follow" attribute resets upon scene reloading

Date:12/07/2010
Submitted by: Jim Levasseur Jim Levasseur
Hi, I encountered a weird bug with the Follow attribute on the IK knee controls (using a rig that's referenced into a scene).

If I reload the rig in the Reference Editor (or even just open the scene), the knee control defaults to "Main" even if the control has already been keyed. For example, I have both knee controls set to "Foot" and the key value at frame one clearly shows as 1 in the Graph Editor, but upon re-opening, the attribute reads "Main" in the Channel Box. I have to manually re-set both Follow values every time I open the scene file.

Note that when I open the rig file itself, adjust the Follow values, save, and re-open the same file, they stick properly. Not sure if this bug is a result of Maya (it's certainly possible) or something funky with RapidRig. Can anyone else confirm this bug?

cheers,
jim

p.s. I feel silly, but the Bugs section here does not appear to have a button for reporting new bugs (browser issue? I tried both Chrome and Firefox), so I'm just posting this stuff to the Forum.

A couple things to maybe check and try: -Make sure there are no keys on that attribute in your file that you are referencing -Try restarting Maya -Try locking the attribute in your original reference file so that it holds there. What version of Maya are you running? I wonder if that is part of the issue... Also, for filing bugs, there should be a big "Report Bug" button at the top of the bug list. I can see it on Safari and Firefox. But this works fine too, either way I get the message :) Dustin
