Q/A

Ball and toes and IK wrists no rotations

Date:07/14/2016
Submitted by: RJ beast RJ beast
i bought this a few days ago, rigged my character just fine.

bound it but noticed later on that the Ball and toe tip joints werent selected in the bind joints. (minor bug since i just manually added them later)

but then the IK wrists also are buggy, the translates work but no rotations.

The tip joints are not included in the selection of bind joints because these are not typically skinned to. The only purpose of end joints is for orientating the previous joint properly and for IK (if applicable, like in the toes). The ball joints are part of the selection. Make sure when you skin that you disable "Remove unused influences" in the smooth bind options. If Maya's default weight assignment does not assign weight to a joint, it removes it from the joints that the mesh is skinned to. I cannot reproduce the issue with the wrists. They rotate fine for me. Could you email me your rig with the issue? -Dustin
