This works great with Maya 2014. I'm testing the shadows as they move on a home I hope to build in Tucson someday. I only wish there was some way to calculate the position of the moon as easily. -

I can't get this calculator to produce plausible results. I am checking the results against the calculator in Geoscience Australia, sunposition.info, NOAA and my own calculator, and the results are wildly different. Check out these calculators: https://www.ga.gov.au/geodesy/astro/smpos.jsp https://www.sunposition.info/sunposition/index.php https://www.srrb.noaa.gov Possibly my usage is incorrect, but I think I've read and understood all documentation. I would definitely recommend checking the results produced by this calculator! -

This is exactly what I need, but i can't seem to install it correctly. I have maya 2010. Hey onkelandy... could explain how you installed it? I followed the original instructions, but it's not working. I do have vista by the way. Thanks. -

I've tried the newest script in Maya 2010 and everything works fine so far. I love the features and the way this works. It's really easy to change and animate the settings. Extremely useful for architectural visualizations. Only thing that would be cool: an In-Maya conversion of the coordinates ;) Somehow I also think that the sun is too dark overall in the evening but I guess that's a problem of Mental Ray Sky+Sun. -

Cool idea, and perhaps I have got this bit wrong, but it seems that the Time Zone attribute and the Local Hour attribute are not linked up to any other Time Zone than GMT London. Because of this the user has to work out the Local Hour manually for any other Time Zone. It would be awesome if this calculation was done automagically. Have to link Latitude and Longitude manually. Problem solved. link to data for Latitude and Longitude conversion. https://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0001769.html -

Getting the following errors when using script: "// Error: Cannot find procedure "sunData". // // Error: An execution error occured in the expression expression3. // // Error: Cannot find procedure "sunData". // // Error: An execution error occured in the expression expression3. // // Error: Cannot find procedure "sunData". // // Error: An execution error occured in the expression expression3. // " Edit: Nevermind. Got it working. I added a line to the script and everything works fine. Cheers.
