I get the following error when I try to execute a render through your nifty script:

# Error: IOError: file /Applications/Autodesk/maya2014/Maya.app/Contents/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/lib/python2.7/platform.py line 1007: 10 #

    I'm sorry but I'm not getting that error. Try to relauch the application or if you have access to another PC with maya try on it.

    Thanks very much for your quick response! I ran the script on another mac running os x 10.6.8 and it ran without the error so there must be a problem with my first mac (running os x 10.9.2). I'll run some diagnostics on it. Thanks again.
