Mirror UI is a script for mirror poses (translations and rotations) of any loaded objects. It works on normal objects as well as characters , the characters can have ANY skeletion or rig , the mirroring is done depending on the controllers` world space translation and rotation.
The basic idea is to mirror the object/s according to a reference.
There are two ways in which the script works:
1. mirror a single object according to its reference : for this load the object in <<Object1>> and its reference in the <<Reference>>
(LOADING: is done by selecting the object then pressing the appropriate load button where ever you want the object) then press mirror.
2. mirror two objects according to a reference , load the first under <<object1>>
, load the second under <<object2>> and load the reference under <<reference>> and press mirror.
To mirror the character's pose you need to specify the pelvis
as the reference if you want to mirror without moving the pelvis, or create a locator
to be your reference if you want to mirror the whole pose (the pelvis too should be mirrored to the locator reference).
Installation:
copy the mirUI.mel file in the maya/x.0/scripts/ folder and type "mirUI" in the command line and drag it to the shelf to create a button.
