This script is designed to help cleanup a scene after importing similar scene elements into your scene. For instance, if you merge in an object from an earlier rev of your scene, you will end up with duplicate versions of materials, sets, and layers - all prefixed with the scene name you imported them from. This script will hopefully help cleanup the scene by merging together these duplicate materials, sets, and layers.
