kPNotez is a Maya notepad script. It allows you to write any notes into the window, and it saves the notes with your maya scene. You also have the option to save out the notes to a textfile.
If a maya scene contains 'notes', when you open that scene, there is a brief HUD display that says "This file contains notes.", this is handy when passing files back and forth, others will know there are notes attached to the scene that they may need to read.
