This tool is for people who wish to quickly create a stretchy spine with ik/fk switching and fk stretch ability.
All of this is a fantastic 1.5 hour tutorial by Todd Widup on stretchy spines converted into 600+ lines of code.
This tool is for anyone to use and feel free to use it in your own scripts all I ask is that you credit me! Please note that this tool also contains a script by Todd Widup and can be found near the end, and please credit him if you wish to use his code in your own scripts.
To use this script place the file in the script folder usually found in MyDocumentsMayaScripts. Create a CV or EP curve starting from where you want the bottom of the spine to be and then work your way up using as many points as you would like control over in a straight line. Then type makeStretchySpine; in the commandline. If you wish to adjust the shape of the spine to better follow the curviture of the characters body, just grab a controller and adjust its pivot point, you may then need to grab the controllers CVs in order to better position it around the body. Enjoy!
