Hello!

Very nice script! Thank you Dustin!

I ve got a problem with a stretch system of joints. (Sorry for my English) I use maya 2011. When I use for skin method "Dual Quaternion skin method", and try to stretch "lShoulderFKC" - I have a problem with skinned mesh. Look at screenshot. I cannt fix the problem with skinning. It's works well only with old skin method - "classic linear".  Can you explain me, how can I fix this problem, and use Dual Quaternion skin pethod?

Eugene

Hi Eugene, I am going to have to look into that, I haven't tested the rig yet with the new skinning method in 2011. I believe you can paint the weights for dual quaternion on your skin, so you may have to resort to reducing the influence of dual quaternion on just the arms. Can you also check and see if the torso does the same thing? I will look into this as soon as possible. Thanks! Dustin

Hello, Dustin! I checked weight. Leg, torso, hands - all looks well with IK/FK. Bug only with stretching... Do you have a mail? I can send you my work scene for test. Or send me you mail e.ov@mail.ru Thank you. Eugene.

Hey Eugene, Thanks for sending me the file! I am trying to figure out what is causing that, strange that it happens with all the limbs, but not the spine which is pretty much the same setup. I am looking into what makes dual qauternions tick, seeing as how it is a new feature in 2011. Dustin

So it sounds like this is a known issue with using Dual Quaternion on a rig with joints that scale. For my part, I am not sure if there is anything I can do about it. I will keep my ear to the ground in case I hear of any solutions other people have found. Dustin
