UPDATE: now works in Maya 2011! turns out the newest Autodesk release is not as forgiving as past versions, so bugs in the code appeared that I never realized existed!
feathers, easy to use, and production worthy ( actually used in the McDonalds Fairies and Dragons happy Meal games... ) lucky for everyone that I wrote this tool back in college, making it my property :)
Ill be posting a video on how to use the tool soon
simple instructions are:
1: you choose a master feather ( I suggest using a group and having your object in the group, wich will allow you to scale each independantly later.
2: enter the number feathers it will have
3: choose extra options
4: select the two objects that the pieces will be following
5: create!
they are limited as most constraints, as in, you try to go over the logical 180 degree's of twist it will pop as would any logical constraint
im currently working on adding a choice for interpolation types, as ive noticed "average" tends to have less problems
tip: if you use history mode you can animate a poly object with lets say a bend modifyer and have the feathers reacting to it
tip2: you can create "master" feathers that you can move and animate (the video will have this as an example)
tutorials and an example file can be found on my website at https://simpletofind.ca
enjoy!
